I’m competing in scrapbook this upcoming weekend. The theme of our book is "Road Trip". So far we have done the membership pages which have each member on a "License" with maps as backgrounds. I using those green signs with the name of the city in how many miles as the content page, and a billboard as the title page. I need help with what to do on the officer pages, and service and activity pages. The activity pages and service pages are basically pictures and captions, I just need theme ideas. Thanks so much! We really want to win!

Route 66 with its vintage signs, the 50 states, do a convertible with everyone’s picture collages into the seats, a junk food page/spread (you know like Funyuns and truck stop burritos), National monuments or places people take road trips to like the Grand Canyon or from the snow country to the south.

I’ve seen several ways to display pictures in a scrapbook to save pages–a flip book, folding pages vertically/horizontally and even in one of those paper game fortune tellers kids play with (with numbers or colors). Any other ideas? I’ve been trying to look on sites but I’m not sure what to search under.

I have to make a five page scrapbook for English. I’m open to any ideas.

First you need a whole lot of pictures. Write captions under the pictures. Go to get fancy background paper that kind of tells a story about the book. Make it really detailed not just by words, by decorative stuff! ♥

I was wondering if anyone had any unique/cool ideas for a baby scrapbook. I already have some basic ideas, but I was wondering about some more. Thanks!

I echo the idea on the wrapping paper. For one of my showers for my first, a lady gave me a homemade hooded bath towel wrapped in bathtime wrapping paper. I took the paper and just used if for the page layout and used pics from that shower to decorate. It was very easy… no ironing needed.

Another thing I really love is preprinted pages. I know you might be thinking – how un-unique is that!! BUT it saves you a ton of time and you can still embellish them to whatever degree you choose. The brand I love is Aimee J Inc. I tend to go way overboard when it comes to the number of pics I want to include resulting in a huge number of pages. The printed pages help to keep things going and focused so I don’t lose track of what I wanted to accomplish.

I’m going to try this idea myself… take a bunch of pics of your baby’s eyes, ears, toes, fingers, hairline… etc. memories you want to capture and make them into 1-2 in. squares to form a chunky border on your 12×12 page then put a full baby pic in the main area of the page and embellish as you like. I waited for Michael to fall asleep and tried this. Hint – make sure your flash is off – my pics came out better without it. Have fun!!!

I wanted to have friends come over & scrapbook. I’m not sure how to word it.

What you want to do is let your friends know what to expect at your home. Let them know what time you’ll be cropping, if you will be teaching them something or making a small project together. You should let them know what supplies & tools they should bring & what you will have to share. Also, if you are doing games, swaps, etc, you can let them know ahead of time. If you are doing a theme, like pajama crop, let them know. If you’ll have food or want them to bring some, let them know. Here is an invite that I would use:

70’s Cropping at My House!
Friday night, from 6 pm until midnight.
Please wear some groovy threads & prepare to disco out while cropping!
Light snacks & sodas will be provided.
Please bring basic tool kit & projects to work on. We’ll make a Mother’s Day Card with alcohol inks. (I’ll have supplies).
I’ll have to share: Quickutz & dies, Wishblade, computer for journaling, Sizzix & dies, paints, craft iron, rubber stamps, trimmers, and all my idea books.

Also, DIY scrapbooking had a segment on this awhile back, and had lots of good general ideas. Here is some info from them:

* Invitations – Use your scrapbooking know-how to create an invitation inspired by your crop theme. Creating the invitation is your opportunity to set the tone for the crop. Be sure to inform croppers of items they’ll need to bring, or what supplies will be available. If crop time will be limited, be sure to specify crop party times on the invitation.

* Creating a Festive Atmosphere – Themed decor, food and music work in tandem to create a jovial event. Tip: Music should be played at low volume to avoid distracting the croppers.

* Favors – A themed party favor for your guests — like a sticker packet — heightens guests enjoyment of the crop and provides them with an inexpensive supply that can be enjoyed afterwards.

* Games and Prizes – A little friendly competition can add to the fun. Gerbrandt suggests weighing croppers’ bags as they arrive, then awarding a prize to the cropper who brings the most (or least) supplies. Alternately, croppers can be challenged to create as many borders or page elements using one tool or supply.

* Photo Op – Finally, don’t let the opportunity for taking great photos pass by! Record the evening’s fun and friendship on film.

* Organize supply stations to manage traffic flow for a larger groups. Have participants label any supplies brought to the crop.

* Create an "Information Station" where croppers can peruse magazines and books for new page ideas.

* A swap basket facilitates easy supply trading. Croppers simply put in items they no longer need, then search for new items to take home.

* Consider providing a kit to participants, or take a collection up to buy needed supplies for the crop.

* Contests are a great way to stimulate creativity and add to the fun of any crop. Croppers can create clever centerpieces, quick pages or paper dolls.

I want it so that when my teacher opens the scrapbook project it will sing! But How can I do this? I have the audio thing that is in inserted into the card out of the card and the scrapbook ready, I just need to know!

most I have seen would require you to push a button, not play when the album is opened.

You may have to rig up a tap that is pulled for the music to start. just like it is pulled when the card flap is opened.
I don’t’ see how you can do it so it plays automatically when a page is opened

I have a pseudo-scrapbook with some already framed spots for photos, but I have no idea how to attach the pictures to the pages. What do I use? Thanks.

You can use double-sided tape, glue stick, a tape runner or glue dots, just make sure whatever you choose is acid and lignin free and photo safe. If it doesn’t specifically say that on the package, don’t use it. If it’s not acid free, it can discolor and eventually destroy your pictures and the pages!

I want to print my own scrapbook paper in order to sell my paper design at the local scrapbook stores. What kind of printer do I need to use to print professionally? Would I need to have it done by the printer company or what?

This can vary a lot. Ideally, you want to buy a personal inkjet printer, as lasers tend to be VERY unforgiving of what you put into them whereas on an inkjet you can fudge around with sizes and papers.

I would invest in a hand trimmer from Staples or your local scrapbook store (Should be maybe, what, $20-$30?) and trim a whole bunch of scrapbook paper to the size you want. Then, get an inkjet printer and adjust it to your specific size. Think of it as printing an envelope, you want to print 4×6 pages, you would adjust it in your printer properties to be a 4×6 size, and voila.

I’m not sure what size you want it, but an inkjet, probably in the $100-$200 range would be your best bet for getting this done. Printing scrapbook paper professionally is a can of worms you don’t really want to open, trust me on this one. I’ve worked in a Kinkos back in the day as well as working for a trade printer now, and no one will want to touch scrapbook paper for you. It’ll be better for your ego, cost, and general knowledge to just grab a personal inkjet and experiment a bit, you’ll get better results and a nice feeling of accomplishment when it turns out the way you like.

I am going to get some scrapbook pages printed at Kinkos and I am not sure if a glossy cardstock would turn out better than just a matte… I am leaning toward the glossy, but I am not sure if it will be too "shiny" and look awkward. Thanks!

It really is your personal preference. The glossy really looks like ‘photo’ paper. I usually choose matte. You might also want to check out a place called www.sbtoshare.com. They are reasonable with cost- $1.75 per page and a flat $5 for shipping. They do great printing in all sizes though I’d mostly use them for 12×12 and just print smaller ones myself. The website is www.sbtoshare. com – I checked with a few online Yahoo digital scrapbook groups and this is the most recommended site that I found. It is also very easy to email them digitally and they’ll do a free sample for you. Hope that helps.

i recently found out that my friend is moving to another state and my friends and i wanted to make her a scrapbook. we bought everything and we have 70 pages to fill up. we have about 50 ideas or so, but thats not going to fill up all the pages, even if a few ideas will take up more than 1 page. so do you guys have any suggestions or ideas on what another theme could be?

firstly divide the pages up so everyone has the same amount to do, get it each person do thing from there point of view,not everyone will remember the same thing was the same event. it would mater how u do it just tell he a story of how she means to each one of you.
u can tie each page together with colours of the papers. in a nut shell. you create a book that has chapters. If u need any more information on how to do it come to groups and look for debbierawle. i can post more info if u need it
